I Love Christmas!

It’s true.

Always have.

The lights, the trees, the food, the family, the carols, the gifts.

These all truly make the season bright.

Christmas has unfortunately become so commercialized

that it’s very namesake has been all but forgotten.

This war on Christmas seems very strange to me.

After all, it’s only Christmas because of Christ.

If Christ hadn’t come, there would be no Christmas.

It’s just that simple.

This season I’ve watched LOTS of Christmas movies on Hallmark and UPtv.

They have been clean and sweet and sometimes include Jesus,

but for the most part they’ve been about Santa and the “Christmas spirit.”

I grew up believing in Santa and I still believe in the person of St. Nicholas

and his ministry of giving, and I think I turned out okay.

The difference, I believe, is that we were not constantly indoctrinated by those trying to remove Jesus from Christmas.

This really makes it hard for me to know the right thing to do with my grandkids.

They know Jesus is the reason for Christmas.

Their parents have instilled that truth into their lives from the very beginning.

Yet, outside of home and church, that is not what they hear.

Our times are difficult.

The evil in this world has grown bolder and bolder with each passing day.

Truth has been replaced with whatever makes us comfortable.

We learn of beheadings and shootings of not just adults, but also innocent children.

People destroy their own towns and businesses to protest what they believe is injustice.

The talking heads debate all around the real issues and constantly stir the fires of hatred.

Yet, we shake our heads and wonder why the world is going to “hell in a hand basket.”

There is one answer to the problems of this world, both large and small.

That answer is LOVE.

And that LOVE was born on Christmas!

God became flesh and dwelt among us.

Jesus, the Incarnate God, was born for the purpose of dying for us.

Our sin is great and it’s penalty is death.

Yet God loves us so much that He came as one of us, but without sin,

to redeem us from the slave market of sin so we might have life instead of death.

I know it’s not politically correct to say this,

but Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Political correctness may change our words, but it doesn’t change the truth.

We may not have peace in our world,

but we can peace in our hearts.

As you gather with your family and friends,

may Jesus be the central part of the celebration in your heart.

Yes, I love Christmas because it is the birthday of THE KING!

And there will come a day when EVERY knee WILL bow

and EVERY tongue WILL confess that Jesus Christ is LORD and KING,

to the glory of God the Father.

It is my prayer that each of you will bow your knee and confess Him now.

He is the answer.

He wants to fill you with His love.

Won’t you give Him your heart this year as your gift to Him?

After all, it is His birthday!

Lots of love, Sharon
