The Sweetest Name

“Oh, how I love Jesus.

Oh, how I love Jesus.

Oh, how I love Jesus.

The sweetest name on earth.”

I’ve sung that song since I was a little girl.

His truly is the sweetest name!

JESUS

God with skin on.

The sovereign creator of the universe who left the glory of heaven

and

took on the limits of time and space to become one of us;

to pay the debt we could never pay;

to redeem us from the slave block of sin.

The hair on my arm stands up when I stop and ponder that.

Such amazing love!

When I hear His precious name used in a derogatory manner,

my soul aches.

“JESUS”  IS NOT A SWEAR WORD!

Somehow we’ve come to think there is only one phrase that is taking God’s name in vain.

But that is not true.

If we are using His name in any way other than in honor, then we are using it in vain.

Daily we are bombarded by the words “O my God!”

People use that phrase so often that we’ve become desensitized to it.

Just recently, I was walking out the door from being with a group of Christian women

when I heard the woman behind me say “oh, Jesus.”

The context did not allow that to be a statement of praise or honor.

It made me shudder.

It hurt my heart.

She probably doesn’t even realize she says it or that it is a slam toward Him.

Maybe we should all take the time to examine our words more carefully.

Do our words honor or dishonor our Lord?

The world is watching and listening to those of us who claim the name of Jesus.

They are not impressed when we defile the name of the one we profess.

Adore His Name

Don’t Deface It

There is no other name under heaven and earth by which you can be saved.

That deserves honor!

“Therefore also God highly exalted Him

and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven,

and on earth, and under the earth,

and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of the Father.”

(Philippians 2:9-11 NASB)

Lots of love, Sharon

PS: Don’t forget about Jesus during Christmas.

After all, without Him, there would be no Christmas!!!!
