This morning as I read from Nehemiah, chapter 8, I was struck by the reaction
of the people as they listened to the reading of God’s Word.
Verse 9 says “for all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law.”
They wept when they heard the words of God.
How much do we take God’s Word for granted.
If you are like me, then you have multiple copies in your home.
I have one I take to church and use for Bible study.
I have one I use just for my morning devotionals.
I have one in my room at the beach.
I have Les’ Bible.
Not all that long ago, regular people like us didn’t have access to their own copies of the Bible.
They were totally dependent on hearing it read by the clergy.
Do you realize how blessed we are to be able to hold God’s precious Word in our very own hands?
I love my Bible, especially the one I study from and take to church.
It is so worn that if not for the cover I have on it, I would not be able to continue using it.
But I know it unlike any of my others.
I have used it for many years now.
It really needs to be replaced, but I just can’t do it.
When I cradle it in my hands, it feels right.
I can visualize a certain Scripture, seeing it on the right page or the left page.
Honestly, when I’m not using that particular Bible, I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for!
What a gift my Bible is.
Today I want to thank God for allowing me to hold in my own hands His God-breathed words,
all bound together in one precious book.
It truly is a blessing.
Lots of love, Sharon
